Finding Strength and Insight Together

GROUPS

Working together with others on a topic of personal growth or on a difficult life issue is often the most effective way to move forward.  You find out that others have similar questions and challenges and you discover new solutions together.  Group work can be an addition to individual, couples, or family counseling, or a stand-alone.  Many people prefer going to a group rather than having their own personal sessions.  I offer a variety of groups on different topics (see below).  Contact me if you are interested in any group and also feel free to suggest a group you would like me to start if you don't find the group you are looking for. Groups generally meet weekly over a period of six to eight weeks.

Upcoming Groups

A Group for Friends and Family of People with Addiction

When someone you love is addicted to alcohol or drugs, it can be difficult to know what to do.  There are many ups and downs, as you and the one you love face feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and shame.  It is important to know that you are not alone.  By meeting with others in a similar situation you can find strength, courage, and inspiration for how to change things for the better.

A Group on Grief and Loss

Losing someone or something important to us is painful.  It may be the death of a person or a pet, the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or something else.  Whatever the loss, it can be hard to know how to go on living.  By meeting with others who are also dealing with the pain of loss, we can find hope and strength for a new beginning.

What Do My Dreams Mean?

We all dream every night.  By tapping into our dreams we discover new potential for personal growth and we heighten our creativity.  No one can interpret your dreams for you, but you can learn how to remember your dreams and how to unlock their meaning.  We will explore our dreams together, using a variety of formats and methods.  This group is for all those interested in working with their dreams, including artists and writers and all those looking for a new source of inspiration.

The Gift of Years: Exploring the Joys and Challenges of Aging

People have never lived as long as they do now, which means that many of us have no role models for living a fulfilling life as we reach an advanced age. What do we do with the gift of years we have been given? How are we being challenged to grow and change?  What do we wish for ourselves and our loved ones as we become older?  How can we face questions of sickness and death openly and thoughtfully?  We will explore these and other questions together, gaining inspiration from the book The Gift of Years by Joan Chittister.
